Downtown Santa Barbara is an extraordinarily dynamic district, with it’s legendary history and culture as the backdrop, it features an abundance of upscale boutiques, restaurants, art galleries, world-class museums, and historic theaters that twist and turn through it’s Paseo’s, in and out of State Street. Mapping this dense district was the most important aspect of this website, particularly for mobile, and needed to be equally dynamic. Filters divide merchant groups into their own map layer, an additional filter divides the groups into categories. Each drop pin has a pop up with the merchants name and address, which then can take you to a merchant page with an image, description, phone number, website link, social links, yelp review, hours and “what’s nearby”.
Each map layer has it’s own color, the map pins, the header and even the footer, which can be appreciated on the tablet and desktop.
